What is Go Green in the City Challenge?

Schneider Electric is inviting students from around the world who have bold ideas and are willing to put their skills and ideas to test for Go Green in the City 2023. All the University students (18 years of age or older) who are registered in a bachelor’s (at least the 2nd year), master’s or MBA program of business, engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics or other Sciences are eligible to compete in the Contest. The winning team will win job offers from Schneider Electric, and an all-inclusive international trip to two cities of their choice (where Schneider Electric has offices). Schneider Electric is leading the Digital Transformation in Energy Management and Automation. We are always on the lookout for bold ideas that can shape the future of our industries and our company.

Go Green in the City challenge

The Go Green City challenge is now entering its 9th year running and our 2023 edition is going to be even bigger, better and bolder! We are looking for students like you from around the world who are willing to put their skills and ideas to the test. The competition is organized by Schneider Electric, a multinational corporation with a presence in over 100 countries around the globe. More than 80,000 students from 180 countries have participated in the Go Green in the City challenge over the last 8 years. First-place winners received an all-expense-paid trip for two to Milan, Italy to attend the prestigious Salone Internationale del Mobile 2023. Second place winners earned a promotional video of their submission and designs.

Required Eligibility For the Challenge 2023

  • Be a bachelor’s (at least second year) or a master’s student.
  • Be studying Engineering, Business, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or other Sciences.
  • Have proficiency in the English language.
  • Apply exclusively in teams of two, of which at least one team member is female.

Go Green in the City challenge Step By Step SELECTION PROCESS:

Stage 1: Regional Semi-finals – Online selection of up to 70 teams (10 – 15 teams chosen per Region) by Schneider Electric regional juries based on the following criteria: innovativeness, feasibility, presentation quality, and sustainable impact.
Stage 2: Mentoring Phase – The selected teams will be mentored by Schneider Electric experts via the competition platform
Stage 3: Regional Finals – The juries from Schneider Electric’s offices will be selecting the best project from each region for the Grand Finale in Spain
Stage 4: Grand Finale – Top teams are invited to attend the Schneider Electric Innovation Summit in Barcelona!

Go Green in the City challenge Rewards or Benefits

Grand Prize: The winning team will win job offers from Schneider Electric, and an all-inclusive international trip to two cities of their choice (where Schneider Electric has offices).

Global Finalists: The Top 8 teams will be invited on a fully sponsored trip to the Schneider Electric Global Innovation Summit in Barcelona to pitch for the Grand Prize, and receive an invitation to interview for Schneider Electric’s Internship Program Regional.

Finalists: Participants will receive mentorship from Schneider Electric experts to polish their proposals and make it to the Grand Finale!

Women in Energy Award: One all-female team from the semi-finals will win the Women in Energy Award, securing a place in the finals and cash prize of USD $1,000.

Students will be informed by mail that their registration has been successfully completed, a unique code will be sent to your mail ID, which you can also check your application status.

What are the eligibility criteria of Go Green in the City Challenge?

Why do I have to be at least a second-year graduate student?

This eligibility criterion is to allow Schneider Electric to recruit relevant students for internships and job opportunities.

I do not have an engineering background. Am I at a disadvantage to participate?

It is not necessary that you belong to an engineering background. You should have a great idea. If you get selected, you will get to meet the mentors from Schneider Electric to assist you with the technical and business angles, respectively.
