Central Sector Scholarship Scheme(CSSS) for College and University Students 2023:
The Central Sector Scholarship scheme is for the College or University students. It is executed by the Department of Higher Education since 2008.

Aim of the scholarship:
-The aim of the Central Sector Scholarships Scheme is to provide financial support to deserving students from low income families. The distribution of partial financial support in form of non-returnable scholarship in tranches to help and to meet their day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies.
-Central Sector Scholarship scheme is distribute among a total of 82,000 students for pursuing graduate/postgraduate studies in colleges and universities and for professional courses, such as Medical, Engineering etc, every year.
-This scholarship is given in equal proportion to boys and girls, that means; 41,000 of the total number of scholarships are composed for boys and the other 41,000 are for girl candidates.
-The selected students receive a scholarship amount of up to INR 20,000 per annual while pursuing their higher studies.
-Check it out by the year 2023. We are all aware of the government scheme of scholarship, which is reimbursement for lower-caste students and also financially backward. The government introduced this scheme to enhance poor education. There are specific criteria to be eligible for this post matriculation reimbursement.
Eligibility Criteria for CSSS Scholarships:
-The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
-The candidate must have passed the class 12th examination of CBSE, ISE or any other state boards of India.
-The candidate must score minimum 80 percentage or above in the 12th class Examination.
-The candidate must have taken admission in engineering or medical course from a college/institution recognized by the AICTE, Dental Council of India, Medical Council of India and other
respective regulatory authorities.
-The candidate annual family income must be ₹6 lakhs or less.
-The candidate must not be availing any other scholarship.
The scholarship Amount under the Scheme:
-Graduation level for the first three years of College and University courses : Rs. 10000/- per annum
-Post-Graduation level (Students pursuing professional courses) : Rs. 20000/- per annum
-For Students in 4th and 5th year : Rs. 20,000/- per annum
Duration of scholarships and renewal criteria :
-The scholarship would be renewed up to a maximum of five years For all the courses.
-Scholarship under the CSSS scheme is renewable from year to year upto Post Graduate level in the same stream.
-scholarship will be renewed till the graduation level of that course (For all professional courses).
-A scholar would be approved to continue/renew his scholarship if he changes the course of study to a stream not offered by his school in class 12,(Law, Fashion Technology).

– Copy of Aadhaar card or Aadhaar number.
– Copy of Bank passbook for filling bank details.
– Fatherly annual income certificate.
– Caste certificate(wherever required).
– Disability certificate (wherever required).
– e-mail ID.
Selection criteria:
Students are selected on the basic of merit list as per the state allocated quota. Their applications will be verified at 2 distinguishing, levels :
1) By the Institute where the student is studying.
2) By the respective State Education Board .
Terms of scheme:
– The scholarship is not applicable to a diploma course pursuing students.
– Students belonging to reserved categories/minorities/weaker sections are eligible for reservation on the basis of merit, subject to Central Reservation Policy and internal earmarking.
– If The applications of students are not verified either by the Institute or by the concerned State Education Board or by both will be consider as ‘Invalid’.
– The duration of the scholarship will not be exceeding 5 years.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The scholarship is disbursed through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode i.e. directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiary. For smooth disbursement of scholarships, students have to link the Aadhaar mentioned in the application form to the bank account.
Before registering on the National Scholarship Portal, students are advised to keep the following documents ready with them
(i) Bank passbook for filling bank details
(ii) Aadhar Card no.
(iii) Income certificate of parents
(iv) a valid mobile number
(v) An email id
(vi) Caste certificate wherever necessary
(vii) Disability certificate
After filling in the personal details, students are required to select the “Post-Matric” option from the drop-down menu, and select “Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students”.
You can edit all details except those entered in the “Personal Details” tab. It may be noted that once you click the “Confirm and Submit” button, your application will be sent to the next level and then you will further edit.
